|
|
Hi, my Dunlop 535Q switch is acting up and whenever the slightest bit of pressure is put on it (pressing down on it about 1mm), it cuts out... Is this normal?
If it isn't, what type of switch is in the wah, and how hard would it be to replace?
Thanks alot guys! |

It sounds like your switch is loopy, because that's not the way that it should behave - unless it's too hard to switch because it takes too much effort to switch it on/off, which results in all sorts of unexpected behaviours. If that's the case, you can try adjusting the height of the switch a little bit to make it easier. I have all of my wah pedals so that they switch pretty easily - I don't like having to stand on the pedal with both feet to switch it on/off.
Anyhow, it uses a Carling SPDT switch. Anyone that sells Dunlop replacement parts will have one. _________________ Paul Marossy

I would replace the switch, but it has something like pc board on it... here's a photo:
The arrows are pointing to a part that i'm not sure would be on a replacement switch (the green pc board) |

Ahh... that's apparently already a DPDT switch. Your only alternative then would be to try the "Millenium Bypass" at www.geofex.com _________________ Paul Marossy

Oops, sorry about that. I got you confused with another post.
OK, then. It looks like you'll have to desolder that PCB attached to the switch or clip the wire ribbon and hard wire it all.
You can get some desoldering braid at RadioShack. I use it all the time for things like this. I've had to remove one of those switches not too long ago. It takes some time to get all of the solder off of the switch, so if you go that route, be patient. If you hard wire it, make a sketch of it before you cut anything so that you know how to reconnect the wires to the new switch. _________________ Paul Marossy

Yeah, sometimes ebay can be a source for those switches, too. _________________ Paul Marossy

Hey guys, I havent ordered the switch yet as I have not been able to raise the money (16, no job lol)... anywho, I have posted a video on youtube that demonstrates exactly where and what is happening.

Ignore my sock, lol.
Also, how would I hardwire it? Could you make a drawing in paint or something? |
