My One Time/Sometimes Hobby - Building Scale Models

At one time, I was quite into building plastic models. Mostly I built armor for a long time. Then I got into race cars for a while. Built a few planes and one die cast model. My main hobby now is building DIY guitar effects and tube amps, but a lot of the stuff I learned from building models translates to what I build. Stuff like painting (and how to do it right), building rather tedious little circuits, making things fit together, etc. And combine that with my engineering job which requires me to have an eye for graphics, attention to details and accuracy, and you end up building stompboxes and amps that look like the ones I have built...

Maybe some day I can return to building models, but with two small children around, it's just too difficult to attempt building anything these days. One thing I haven't tried yet is paper models - I have a biplane waiting to be built sitting in my closet...
